Richard Maplesden, Copper Halfpenny, 1794, obv a bust of the Prince of Wales in profile to right. Around the perimeter GEORGE PRINCE OF WALES . Period after WALES, the period nearly touches the waistcoat. Extent of hairline between the E of PRINCE and the O of OF, rev the crest of the Prince of Wales and motto ICH DIEN. HALFPENNY above, 1794 below. No period after HALFPENNY, edge PAYABLE AT RICHARD MAPLESDENS WINCHELSEA . X .  at end a division sign  (Atkins p. 200, 36; D&H Sussex 39)

Trifling brush marks, otherwise nearly mint state with reflective fields and a bit of original color remaining; some red casting wax adhering. Exceedingly rare, if not unique. The only specimen traced and likely a trial strike or pattern.
